Location
The proposed location for the Port Maritime Center is on Port-owned property adjacent to the Foss and Wheeler-Osgood waterways, directly across from downtown Tacoma.
A portion of the Port property known as “Parcel 94,” just north of the Wheeler Osgood waterway, was identified as the most viable location for the project. (See aerial photo below.) However, the master planning process will encompass both Port-owned parcels at this site, in addition to a study of the surrounding area and how this project fits into the broader Foss Waterway redevelopment plans as a whole.
The Port recognizes the historical and cultural significance of the project area to the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. We have conducted extensive environmental and cultural resource assessments at the site and are committed to continued consultation and coordination with the Tribe on this project.
It’s important that we have a wide range of voices contributing their thoughts and ideas to help envision the future of the Maritime Center project. Please continue on to the Timeline section and then submit your feedback. We look forward to hearing from you!
